What does it mean when a house is owned by an "asset management" company?
We're looking to buy a house in another area...basically a fixer upper, but with things like the pipes and wiring up to code. We found a house that we like...it was built in 1995. It's in a Subdivision in McDonough, GA...with fairly nice houses around there that are single story and double story. The selling price is $57,900. Included is a Dishwasher, Range and oven, and it has wall to wall seemed to be new, just installed carpeting, Breakfast area room, Pantry, Laundry area in kitchen, Laundry closet, Separate living room, ADT security system, central heat air, 2 car garage and a fenced in private backyard. We haven't been able to go into the house for a showing as of yet, but we may schedule one. We looked around outside and peeked through the windows nobody living in it, and it has the typical realtor lock on the back door . It looks very nice inside with the nice carpeting and such. But other areas such as in the kitchen and in the garage, it's like they painted 99% of it and then stopped, leaving various areas that are not painted...for an unknown reason. I saw stuff hanging from the entrance doorway into the house from the garage...as if they started to do something and just stopped and left it as is. In the kitchen, they did the same thing...painted 99% of the room and left a certain area unpainted for an unknown reason. Seemingly very easy things to do that wouldn't take much time at all, and it's not complete. It has a note that says " This listing is brokered by ADAMS ASSET MGMT., INC." I'm a little puzzled at this property. If it's a foreclosure...why does it seem like someone was working on it and just stopped? And yes, before anyone says " ask the company" ...we plan on doing that. Just thought I'd get an opinion on what it would be like dealing with an asset management company, and if there is anything extra that would have to be done as opposed to going through an actual realtor? What's the difference between a realtor, asset management company and a broker?

Question about a career in asset management?

Do people who work in asset management work longer harder than investment bankers? Also, what are the educational requirements?
